Takes My Breathe Away

I love my cat.  He was a stray that showed up on my doorstep 6 years ago and never left. Best cat ever.  Sure, he does normal cat stuff. But he is also extra cool.

He snores and drools when he sleeps.  He’s smart.  If I push the snooze button on my alarm too many times, he taps my face to wake me up.  Soon I’ll be training him to give up the litter box and use a regular toilet.  This will happen just  as soon as I can decide which toilet in my home can be dedicated to him for several weeks.

He even poses for pictures with his tongue sticking out…

By now you’re probably convinced that I have the coolest cat ever. That is not why I wrote this. He’s not for sale.  But if I could change one thing I would. I’d wax him. Settle down people, I won’t. But  he makes it hard for me to breathe.  Yeah, his cat dander and my lungs don’t mix. Asthma is a bitch.  But it would be weird to sleep without my purring, snoring, drooling cat spooning me at night.  It’s nothing a puff or two can’t conquer.

I know exactly what you mean – I am allergic to my kitty too and I would never give him up!

Mine started the morning face-pawing last year. It was so cute at first. But if I don’t respond, he extracts his claws ever so slightly. Scratch, scratch on my face. If I put my face under the blanket, he gnaws on my scalp.

Now I sleep with a knife under my pillow.

Awesome tongue picture! I got this gem off my Betta when the state banned those nasty malt beverages from convenience stores — http://www.findingslc.com/2008/10/my-cat-rejects-our-last-convenient.html

    Erin,
Clearly we both have model cats showing off their ability to hold their tongue out upon command. It has nothing to do with our speedy photo skills. ;) And although they look nothing alike, I bet our cats are related. Scalp gnawing sucks.

Strays are awesome. @elwoodthecat showed up on my back porch and wouldn’t go away. Talk about personality! I can’t let my kitties sleep with me though because of allergies. All three of them were upset when I had to stop. Fortunately my puppy doesn’t seem to bother me… so I snuggle with her. :)
