Being Single Sucks When…

Being single sucks when…

  • you’re sick.
  • you need to turn your gigantic king size mattress.
  • you want an easy way to turn down an admirer simply because you’re not interested.
  • lightbulbs in your vaulted ceiling need to be changed.
  • you want to grill. Or in my case, you want any food cooked at home.
  • groceries need to be carried in.
  • your razor blade is really dull, but his isn’t.
  • you want to have passionate loving sex, not alone.
  • there’s a thunderstorm in the middle of the night.
  • you need a hug.
  • you need a bottle of wine opened after a major arm workout with your trainer.
  • you want to know if you really snore.

What would you add to the list?

I realize that many of these things have nothing to do with having a significant other in your life. Friends can also be in our life to support us. They always seem to make life happen. Without them, we’d be lost.

Cheers to friends!

Truth is, I can do all my all own cooking and apartment upkeep (my dad gave me my very own toolbox when I was 20). I don’t need a guy to carry stuff or change lightbulbs. Being single sucks for me on mornings when I feel like hanging out in bed all morning. I miss having someone to hold me.

Simone: So true. I’ve spent the day in bed today and would LOVE that. Right now. It’s officially added to my list.

For me, I can (and will!) do almost everything myself. There are a few things that I do miss.

Cuddling is the main one. I LOVE cuddling!

And killing spiders. One day, I will be found dead from starvation, or possibly a heart attack, because a spider has cornered me, and I don’t have my phone to call for help, or a window to jump from.

Misty: I’ll take care of your spiders but you’re on your own for the cuddling.

It’s really just the heavy lifting that require two people that I need. Oh, and those days I don’t feel like mowing the lawn.

Rachel: I hired a crew to do my yard, so I might be tempted to help you out every once in a while. Okay, never mind. I’m too lazy.

Hey, don’t forget killing bugs, big spiders. or that errant field mouse that finds his way into your house in the fall when the weather turns colder. EEEWWW!

Carol: I’m okay with bugs and spiders but mice would send me over the edge. And they have. I’ve been known to run to a neighbor’s house to help me.
