Wino Wednesday: Drinking is Exactly Like Having Sex

This Wino Wednesday post was inspired by every wine I’ve ever enjoyed alone.

I’ve got a question for you.

There is something I enjoy doing alone. Really enjoy it. On the flip side, I’d much rather do this with another person or even several people. It’s just better that way.

It’s drinking! I don’t mean when I’m on a traveling alone, because I enjoy drinking then. But I’m usually in a hotel bar chatting it up with others. Which really isn’t alone. And I don’t mean when I’m pouring vodka over my Cheerios in the morning. Wait…that’s silly. I don’t even like Cheerios.

So here’s my question to you….

Do you drink alone?

On a normal weeknight, I have a couple of glasses of wine with dinner. Then perhaps I’ll pour one more after Elle goes to bed.

If I have people over, I have a couple of glasses with dinner. Then an unlimited amount after dinner. Then more after Elle goes to bed.

Why is that?

Do you have a preference? Shall I clarify that I mean preferences when drinking. Because we all know that sex is better when we’re not alone.

I like drinking either way… is that wrong? One of my favorite things is to go to the local bar, by myself for a short period of time, for a couple cocktails. It’s quite heavenly. Then I get lonely. And the phone comes out and text messages get going. and THAT can get ugly.

Becky: I have a hard time going to a bar by myself. Mostly because I feel like men look at me like I’m a hooker. And I’m not. Because I never take money from them. :-)

I more often than not will have a glass of wine while studying or reading at night. Freak, by the time I get home from working 8hrs and being in school for another 2 I think I more than deserve one!

But, drinking with friends is always better which is why I am just going straight to your house at the end of the day from now on. ;)

Summer: You are always welcome at my house. And I still have that bottle of wine you gave me which we need to drink together.

I kind of drink mostly like you…..a couple with dinner and one or two after the kid’s in bed. The only difference is that sometimes I drink bourbon instead of wine….but not a lot. The only other difference is that since I work Graveyard Shift, sometimes my dinner time / bedtime is at 5 or 6 am. It took me awhile and some convincing from other Graveyard Shifters to realize that as long as it’s bedtime for ME, it’s okay to have a nightcap at 6am.

Amberly: That is funny. Here’s my question for you. Do you eat breakfast food for dinner or dinner food?

I like drinking alone or with people. Sometimes, I pull out a wine bottle and start pouring myself a glass. Then as an afterthought, I’ll ask my husband if he wanted one. Sometimes, he says no. So I drink alone then. Also, I like to drink while reading a book. Oh, and on Fridays. ;)

Tara: I love your very first sentence…”I like drinking alone or with people.” That really gives you options. And translates to “I like to drink all the time.” LOVE IT!
