I consider today the last day of summer. It’s Labor Day. Which honestly, I have no idea what that even means. I just know that I must pack away my large white leather purse until next year. Oh, and that I get the day off of work.

Considering it’s the last day of summer it seems perfectly fitting that I spent part of the day with a girlfriend named Summer. We went to brunch at a great well known restaurant up one of the canyons here in Salt Lake City. This restaurant, Ruth’s Diner, is known for it’s fabulous patio seating.

So here we are. Enjoying the most perfect patio. Having the most perfect Bloody Mary. With the most perfect company. And with perfectly hungry tummies. We were starving!

And neither of us can decide what we want to order. Thank god for Ruth’s menu options. They identify the favorites with a pink flamingo icon next to the menu item. We were both indecisive about two items, both listed as Ruth’s Diner favorites, so we decided to split them. And that’s what made brunch today the most perfect ever.

Having lunch with a friend who will split their food makes me smile.

Oh, and ignore the cheese on the hash browns. I like to go healthy and women totally need calcium and “healthy” fat. Trust me, Summer’s boyfriend is a trainer and so she totally knows what to order.

And this may be the end of summer but I guarantee it won’t be the end of hanging out with Summer. That girl is amazing. And fun. And super sweet.

Today is a fun day. I get to meet lots of friends for brunch. After I’m stuffed full of food and get a few beverages in my system, I get to be in a photo shoot.

I’m not model. Not even close. However a photographer friend of mine asked me to pose for a 50’s glam look for her portfolio. She even has a make up artist coming to do my makeup. I’m excited as fuck.

But also nervous as hell. Here’s why. From my research, the photos of 50’s glam are super sexy. Sultry in fact. They rarely smile and don’t wear earrings. I smile all the time and wear huge earrings generally. Plus I plan to be full from lunch. So last thing I need is a pot belly showing in a satin gown.

Here’s to looking sexy, skinny and pulling off the 50’s glam look. Cheers. *martini glass in one hand with a cigarette holder in the other*

Ever want to get so much done but can’t seem to fit it all in? Well waking up around 10:30 am on Saturday didn’t help. There go my plans to hike and get a pedicure all before my 12 noon hair appointment today.

Still need to tackle the Living Traditions Festival this weekend, brunch on Sunday with a friend, rollerblading, shopping for rollerblades (clearly the wrong order), get new tires put on a car, wrap up some personal paperwork. That may sound easy to do in two days. But it’s not.

Watch out world. I’m on a mission. Now where is my caffeine.

This is all before 10 am. Now if I could only get someone to deliver brunch to my bedroom. Actually, I’d rather leave my bed to meet friends for brunch today. We all need a little face to face time and who wants syrup on the sheets.

Off to continue my super productive day which is only filled with fun.
