When Costumes are Real

Sitting in a bar the other night I saw quite a sight. A couple walked in. The were dressed identical. They were with a group of people yet managed to be the only twinned duo.

And if dressing alike wasn’t silly enough, they opted to wear white pants, pink polo shirts and white sweaters tied tightly around their necks. The looked like they walked out of a country club in the Hamptons back in the 80’s.

And the only reason I noticed them, since they sat right behind me, was the reactions from all the people I was facing. I actually saw camera phones casually snapping shots. So I joined them with a little over the shoulder action.

I’m sure these people are lovely and kind. But after the age of 12, dressing alike looks more like a costume. And that doesn’t work unless it’s October 31st.

An Ass Was Staring at Me

I like fashion. And by liking fashion, I mean I like to wear clothes. And I generally make it a point to not to look like an idiot.

I was sitting in my local kitchen pub, Porcupine Pub & Grille, after working out. This means I was in yoga pants, sports bra and a t-shirt. Hair pulled back in a ponytail. And zero makeup on. NOT my best look…

But I was starving. And Porcupine has the world’s best nachos. And who doesn’t want nachos and beer after doing an awesome and intense 1 hour workout.

So there I was. Sitting around, drinking beers, stuffing my face with nachos and laughing my ass off.

And then I looked to my left only to realize that someone’s ass was staring at me. No joke.

See the face. Look closely at her ass crack. Horrible pants. Suddenly I felt blessed to be sporting the look I had.

Susan Does Dallas

One of my favorite things about traveling to Texas is the shopping. Dallas is one of the best places to do it. When I visit my mom we love to shop together. It’s what we do.

This year I found two darling strapless summer dresses.

Of course, I bought several other items (clothes & jewelry) too.

Today is the day we fly back to Utah. It’ll be nice to get home, stop spending so much money and say goodbye to the humidity.

But I will miss the shopping. Especially the shopping with my mom.

What traditions to you have with your family?
