My Way Is So Much Easier
I adore my trainer. She is awesome. Not only does she kick my ass in our workout sessions, she tolerates me. And by tolerates, I mean she doesn’t let me give her excuses. But she does let me have fun.
At our last training session, she tossed me the elastic band as she walked over to get some hand weights. I quickly put the band on and waited for her to return.

She returned. She rolled her eyes. She waited while I took this picture. I needed a break. (Yes, I know this picture is hideous. Hell I was sweating my ass off for 45 minutes at this point.)
Then she made me take the elastic band off my head and put it on correctly. For those of you who don’t know, this is how it works.

Again forgive me for the quality of these pictures. I was super rushed. That’s what happens when you stall on a trainer.
She handed me the weights. You know so I could hold them over my head as I did side steps from one side of the gym to the other. Twice.
Once again my trainer got her way. My ass will thank her later.
It’s Cheap and It Burns
I adore my personal trainer. I see her a couple times each week. On those days, I am guaranteed an amazing workout. One hour of intensive weight training and toning.
I have a workout buddy who joins us. He is a fellow executive at my company. Working out with him has its own benefits.
- He makes the hour go by quickly.
- We talk shop and get work issues handled while we sweat.
- And most importantly, he cuts my training cost in half.
So when my workout buddy is out of town, I often skip my workout with my trainer. This week, my workout buddy is out of town.
My trainer caught on to my trick so she offered me a DEAL!
We do a 1/2 hour of cardio TOGETHER, then we only do 1/2 hour weight training focusing on only my muscles, and my cost is the same as if my workout buddy is there.
The upside: I get an hour workout.
The downside: my regular 1 hour weight training is crammed into 1/2 hour session.
This means no breaks. No rest periods. She kicks my ass. If you see me limping around this week, you’ll know why. Don’t get me wrong…I love every painful second. Really, I do.
